In 1996 a new master-planned community was being built a mile away from Walt Disney World. This new community would feature housing, businesses, walking trails and even a small downtown area.

This new community was known as Celebration. Disney executives wanted to make history by developing a town that would be worthy of the Disney brand and legacy.

Today, over 8,000 people live in the beautiful town of Celebration that covers over 4,500 acres!

 

With dozens of awesome restaurants and shops, scrolling through Downtown Celebration is the perfect way to escape the theme park crowds.

Along the banks of Lake Rianhard is where you will find most of Celebration’s restaurants and shops. In fact, we recommend grabbing a bite to eat at Cafe D’Antonio, Celebration City Tavern or Columbia!

If you want a slower pace vacation, then look into staying at the beautiful Bohemian Hotel, Autograph Collection! The views right on the water are amazing!

FTG TIP: There’s a walking trail that goes all the way around Lake Rianhard that we highly recommend! Just be sure to stay away from the water since you’ll likely see an alligator.

Throughout the year Celebration hosts some events that we recommend not to miss… Events like their Forth of July firework display, the Great American Pie Festival and during the holiday season they have a winter wonderland event in Downtown! They even make it snow for the kids!

Fun Fact: World Drive is the main road you would take to get to the Magic Kingdom actually runs all the way to the entrance of Celebration!
